Planning and Waiting

Getting ready for a big, highly anticipated trip is great and its terrible. Your sitting at work thinking about your gear list and worried about getting stuff done to take a day off. You struggle to focus more on work and less on mountains. You keep checking noaa.gov to get weather updates. You email your buddies about the trip. The pure anticipation of a big trip is exhilerating and nerve wracking all at the same time.

Then a couple nights prior your living room looks like an REI store vomited (borrowed that line - thanks dhutch) and your dehydrator is working overtime to get food ready. Your checklist has multiple crossouts and scribbles all over it. You pack and repack - worry about packweight... Do I need my crampons or will yak trax be sufficient???? Which TENT do I carry this time..... All the choices - packing and going thru the gear is half the fun.

Then you finally wake up NOT having to go to work, you load the car and your off. Everything else leaves your mind and the trip is HAPPENING.
